The owner of the winner to receive $450,000, $150,000 to second, $80,000 to third, $42,500 to fourth, $20,000 to fifth and $7,500 to sixth. Weight: 122 lbs. Non-winners of a Grade I Stake since November 1, 2008 allowed 2 lbs.; Non-winners of a Grade II Stake in 2009, 4 lbs. A $10,000 bonus will be awarded to the trainer of any horse that has won a Grade I Stake in the past24 months and starts in the United Nations Stakes. The winning owner to receive a trophy. PRESIOUS PASSION quickly sprinted away to a long lead, increased his margin
through the stretch the first time, maintained the long lead rounding the far
turn, responded when roused in upper stretch and was kept clear under energetic
handling. LAURO (GER) settled into stride to lead the remainder of the field,
closed willingly in upper stretch and was gaining slowly late. BRASS HAT settled
off the rail, raced between rivals past the quarter pole and rallied inside.
SPICE ROUTE (GB) hit the gate and was away awkwardly, settled off the pace, came
three wide into the lane and was outfinished for the show. BANROCK saved ground
throughout and lacked a rally. COURT VISION settled off the pace, came two wide
into the lane and lacked a response. STRIKE A DEAL saved ground and did not
factor. WESLEY settled off the rail, came three wide into the lane and gave way
in the stretch.
