Race Summary

COUNTMEASAFRIEND hopped while breaking slowly, swerved in, trailed badly three or four wide, was outrun for three furlongs, came out six wide for the drive and drove clear late. CRIMSON ALLCAT tracked the pace three or four wide, put a head in front just prior to going a quarter, lost the edge on the turn to JUST SPECIAL from the inside, regained it soon after, was clear for a few strides in the final furlong, then, after the rider dropped his whip leaving the sixteenth pole, couldn't handle the winner. ROMANTIC JOURNEY, within striking distance four wide, moved wider into the lane, was between foes five wide in the late going and not good enough. DON'S DARBY attended the pace between horses into mid-stretch and weakened. JUST SPECIAL sprinted clear at once, was headed before going a quarter from the outside by CRIMSON ALLCAT, regained a sight edge on the turn and weakened in the final furlong.
