PHILIPS PRIDE moved to the fore two wide early, controlled the pace under careful handling, was engaged by HOUR QUEEN at the furlong grounds and held that one safe under strong handling. HOUR QUEEN, up close inside early, eased out three wide on the backstretch, challenged the winner briefly at the furlong grounds and wasn't good enough. MAKEPEACE settled in behind foes early, advanced four wide into the lane, then, after the rider dropped his whip at the three-sixteenths pole, made a mild gain. KIM'S ATTITUDE, unhurried early, rallied five wide leaving the second turn and was slowly gaining. JAGUARIUNA tracked the pace four wide to the stretch and was empty. PENNYPINCHINPETE never was a factor. WAR INDIAN raced in contention four or five wide for five furlongs and weakened. COZUMEL tired on the far turn. |
